The final drawing for this semester was colored pencil of a picture I took of Ship Rock, New Mexico many years ago. I used a set of woodless pencils to lay down a base and then worked the detail with the regular prisma pencils. Having the set of woodless pencils is a real bonus for working background and large areas. I have struggled with drawing realistic looking rocks and managed to draw Ship Rock without any trouble. I was pleased with this final drawing.

Landscape Drawing Class
I am approaching the half way point of my second drawing class and haven't posted any drawings from the summer landscape class. We visited many sites for our drawing projects. Fellow students were a really fun group of people. Lots of interaction and support of each other. The individual styles were really varied and fun to observe.
My personal challenge was drawing rocks. I just could not seem to grasp the concept no matter how hard I tried. Water was another challenge. Trees I could do and enjoyed. This summer giant yuccas were blooming all over town and I had one in my back yard. I really enjoyed drawing it and used it for my final project.

Art Class - Rhino
I am taking a drawing class at WNMU. The first half of the semester we only drew a rhino in every media possible. The instructor is encouraging us to enter our work in the student art show this month. I decided to enter my pencil drawing and my ink drawing. Because we can enter up to 3 drawings for the entry fee I decided to draw something different for the third drawing. A snail seemed like a likely drawing. It was harder to photograph the framed drawing without getting glare so I snapped the snail before framing.

Shadow Applique
The fiber guild I belong to is doing a Textile Project. This is a prototype of one of the samples I will contribute. The design was taken from a stained glass pattern book. The sample is made from silk organza and satin stitched with rayon embroidery thread.
Snow Dyed Bags
Two bags made from snow-dyed fabric. Will use for knitting projects and Vibram five finger shoes (yoga shoes). Fronts and back of bags, not 4 different bags.

Snow Dyeing 2010
Well I have been reading a lot about snow dyeing so prayed for snow and finally got it . It doesn't snow much here and when it does it looks pretty for a few hours, then melts so I had to work fast. My snow was really wet stuff - don't know if that makes any difference.
