The second pair are a real experiment. I had three pieces of floral drapery fabric in different color ways. There was only enough fabric to make one leg from each piece of fabric so I just alternated the colors and tied it all together with a two toned band of hand dyed cotton at the hem.

I just read that you won Marcy Tilton's pants contest. Congratulations! I was so excited to find that the winner was a fellow New Mexican! I am really enjoying your blog.
ReplyDeleteThank you Cindy. What part of NM are you from? Not much fashion where I live. It is either Levis, Wranglers or thrift store! Oh, I forgot Walmart!
ReplyDeleteI love these pants! How did you do the alternative color bands at the bottom? It kind of looks like each one is independent rather than sewn together but I don't see the bulk I would expect to see if that were the case.
ReplyDeleteThanks
Thank you Cecilia,
ReplyDeleteEach band is folded over and laid on top of each other, matching raw edges. They are joined to the pant with a 1/2" seam and then overlocked on raw edge. Final step is to turn the seam up and band down. Hope this is clear.
